Joseph Galloway

August 31, 1929 — May 13, 2014

Joseph Homer Galloway, Jr. age 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Ivy Springs Manor in Buford, Georgia. A native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Joseph Homer and Viola Rogers Galloway. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Rhinehart Galloway, who died in 2002. He retired from Champion International with 38 years of service as a paper inspector and was past president of Smoky Mountain Local 507 for several years. Homer and his wife were owners of Galloway's Country Store for many years. He was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by a daughter, Belinda Allen of Buford, Georgia; a son, Ricky Galloway and his wife, Kelly, of Ellijay, Georgia; four grandchildren, Amanda Galloway Hudson, Morgan, Tyler, and Brody Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Finley Hudson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Mr. Gerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
