Joseph Rogers

Waynesville- Joseph Horace "Dick" Rogers, age 66, of 25 Sonora Lane, died on Wednesday, November 01, 2006 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Goldie Horace and Virginia Suttles Rogers. He was a retired custodian for Western Carolina University, United Community Bank, and Barberville Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Joseph was an avid fisherman and gun collector. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Conard Rogers; one daughter, Kelley Messer and her husband, Bobby, of Waynesville; two sons, Joseph H. Rogers, Jr. and his wife, Crystal, of Clyde and David E. Rogers of the home; two sisters, Emma Jean Messer of Morganton and Faye Rathbone of Mooresville; three grandsons, Dylan Messer, Damian Rogers, and Takoda Rogers; and one stepgrandson, Roger Thomas; a special nephew, Joey Wayne Messer and his wife, Vickey; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Barberville Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Foster and Reverend G. W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be David and Joe Rogers, Ronald Coleman, Jeremy Hastings, and Bobby, Joey, Russell, and Caleb Messer.
