Joseph Jenkins

Waynesville, Joseph Neil Jenkins, 79, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at his home.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Jesse Jenkins and Ruth Rathbone Jenkins.  He was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Earlene Phillips Jenkins and brothers-in-law, Ralph Mills, Rob Russell, and Kevin Blevins.

A proud, lifelong farmer, Joe liked working outdoors doing meaningful work.  He also enjoyed growing a garden each year.  Joe was skilled at bear hunting and enjoyed the challenge and patience which that entailed.

Joseph is survived by his three sisters, Barbara Mills, Margaret Russell, and Carolyn "Tootsie" Blevins; brother, Bill Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews, great-niece and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating.  Burial will follow at White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.

The care of Mr. Jenkins has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
