Joseph Letterman

Joseph Letterman, 92, of Candler, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late A.C. and Pansy Fox Letterman. Joe served his country in the US Navy during World War II and retired from the Asheville Police Department. He was a longtime member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther McCall Letterman; siblings, Eula Lambert, Eva Patterson, Ola Ballard, Uri, Charlie and Fillmore Letterman and Cora Fay Gosnell.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Weber Sparks Letterman; sons, Steve (Rena) and Henry (Jeanette) Letterman; grandson, Clark Letterman; step-son, Douglas (Cathy) Sparks; step granddaughters, Cynthia (Rob) Anderson and Caroline Sparks.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 4th at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Cox officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30AM until the time of service. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
