Waynesville, Joseph Edward "Joe" Mashburn, age 77, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, Joe was a son of the late Benjamin and Ethel Johnson Mashburn. He was also preceded in death by his dear daughter, Mary Rebecca Mashburn and a brother, James Mashburn. Joe worked as a foreman for Dayco Corporation for 34 years along with 19 years of service at Jackson Paper. A United States Navy veteran, he was a man who loved God and his family. Some of Joe’s favorite things included Adult Sunday School class and gospel music.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nora Kilby Mashburn; two sons, Edward "Ed" Mashburn of Perry, Georgia and Rodney Mashburn, and his wife, Tammy, of Waynesville; and a brother, Joel Mashburn, and his wife, Janie. Also left to treasure their Papaw’s memory are his five grandchildren, Hope Castillo (Armando) and Cameron, Carson, Jacob, and Joshua Mashburn.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Willett officiating and a eulogy given by Joe’s grandson, Jacob Mashburn. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum along with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The care of Mr. Mashburn has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
