Joseph Mason, Jr.

Joseph C. Mason, Jr., age 74, died on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of late Joseph and Lucille Clark Mason, Sr. He retired from Champion International in Waynesville with 39 years of service and was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Troutman Mason; a daughter, Katherine Mason Southard and her husband, Jerry; a son, Tim Mason; a sister, Sheila Shook of SC; three brothers, Phil Mason of TN, and Steve and Mike Mason of Canton; and two step-grandchildren, Hillary Mullinax and Megan Southard of GA.. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Meadows and Pastor Jack Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canton First Baptist Church, 74 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716
