Joseph Mullany

Waynesville, NC, Richard Mullany, age 82, of Solitary Meadow Circle, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at his residence. A native of Berkley, Michigan and resided in Brighton before moving to Haywood County. He was the son of the late Steven and Electa Grimshaw Mullany and was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He was a supervisor at General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan, retiring after 37 years of service. Richard was known for his keen intellect, love of good music, and his dry sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Toni Baxter Mullany; one daughter, Elizabeth Mullany of Flint, MI; one son, John Benjamin Mullany, of Athens, GA; three grandchildren, Joseph, Avion, and Summer; and his Scotty dog, Annie. At Richard's request, no public services will be held. A private service will be held at a later date.
