Waynesville-Joseph Robert ''Joe'' Pineau, age 67, died Friday, February 06, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Detroit, Michigan having lived in Haywood County for eleven years. He was the son of the late Clovie and Mary Boudreau Pineau. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hank Pineau, a son, Danny Pineau, and a grandson, Bobby Rawlings.
He was a manufacturing product engineer with General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He loved walking and participated in the Maggie Valley Moonlight Race, and Senior Olympics. He enjoyed playing cards, collecting pennies, and panning for gold. He took care of Exit 102, hence the sign ''Taking Pride'' A Guy Named Joe.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Vivien Beavers Pineau; three daughters, Kathy Rawlings and her husband, Bob of Rochester, Michigan, Nancy Coe and her husband, Randy of Huntington Woods, Michigan, and Heather Kreiner and her husband, Josh of North Branch, Michigan; two sons, Timothy Pineau and his wife, Brenda of Dexter, Michigan, and Robert Pineau and his wife, Ingrid of Plymouth, Michigan; four sisters, Mary Ann Avenmarg and her husband, Herb, Fran Hines and her husband, Don, Theresa Thompson, and Eileen Smith and her husband, Ron, one brother, Ken Pineau and his wife, Rosemary, all of Michigan; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the services, at the funeral home.
