Maggie Valley, NC-Joe Prince, age 58, died Sunday, May 2, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He had lived most of his life in Harnett County and had lived in Australia for ten months. He had lived in Haywood County for the last five years and was the son of Adele Heath Prince Harvey of Fuquay Varina, NC and the late William Henry Prince. After 20 years employment as an insurance broker, he retired in 1999 from Allstate Insurance Company of Lenoir, NC. He was an avid hiker and loved nature and enjoyed writing poetry. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Christian Light Church of Harnett County. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of five months, Joy Mcintosh Prince; two stepdaughters, Melinda Cottier, and Kathy Mcintosh, both of Albury, N.S.W., Australia; a sister, Joyce Andrews, and her husband, Dan, of Fuquay Varina, NC; a brother, Jimmy Prince, of Fuquay Varina, NC; five step grandchildren, Jessica, Mitchell, Jacob, Rebekka, and Bradan; and four nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville, NC with Reverend James Parham officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville.
