Joseph Rogers

Waynesville, Reverend Joseph E. "Joe" Rogers, age 73, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Roy Milburn and Annie Cloer Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Marlene Rogers, who died in 2005; one sister, Relda Stepp; and two brothers, Junior and J.L. Rogers. He had pastored several churches in the area and was a member of Balsam Ridge Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by two sons, Randy and Danny Joe Rogers, both of Waynesville; two brothers, Jhue Britton Rogers of Waynesville and Billy Rogers of Cashiers; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
