Waynesville-Joseph Euel Taylor, age 90, of 671 S. Haywood Street, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Greer, SC and was the last living son of six children born to the late Joseph Edward and Molly Bright Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Langley Taylor, who died in 1988 and his second wife, Frances Liner Williams Taylor, who died in 2003; a son, William Randolph "Randy" Taylor, who died in 2004; and a granddaughter, Susan Carole Taylor, who died in 1994. He began working at Southern Bleachery and Print Works in South Carolina. He operated a country store, which had the first freezer locker in that region. He became a car salesman for Sitton Buick in Greenville, SC and in 1950, came to Waynesville and established Taylor Motor Company, which has remained a family-owned dealership. He was a mason and past member of the Waynesville Lion's Club and former member of the advisory board of First Union National Bank. He was a long-standing member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Waynesville and served on numerous committees at the church. He and his first wife participated in several lay witness trips through his church. He is survived by one son, Joseph Euel Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Waynesville; three stepdaughters, Peggy Elmore and her husband, Larry, of Charlotte, Patty Ferguson and her husband, Rick, of Spruce Pine, Elaine Thompson, of Morganton; a stepson, Stan Williams and his wife, Jouliette, of Raleigh; three grandsons, Joel Taylor and his wife, Allison, Will Taylor and his wife, Christy, and Scott Taylor, all of Waynesville; and one great granddaughter, Chloé Taylor. In addition to the family, he is survived by his housekeeper of over 20 years, Debbie Edwards, and a special family friend, Nancy Burleson. The family wishes to acknowledge the care and help of numerous other caregivers who have been with Mr. Taylor for the past several months. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2006 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince, and Reverend Dr. Jack C. Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Rogers, Bo Enloe, Charles Cordell, Rick Thompson, Terry Davis, and Ken Stokes. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Waynesville, P.O.
