Iron Duff Community, Joseph Amos Stevenson, age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at his residence.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Doug and Fannie Burr Henson Stevenson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Conard and Mabel McElroy; and three brothers, Jack, James Hugh and Floyd Stevenson. Amos was a member of Victory Baptist Church and served as a deacon and also occasionally enjoyed preaching. Amos enjoyed the outdoors, raising animals and spending time with his grandchildren.
Amos is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilda Ruth Davis Stevenson; two sons, David Stevenson (Karen) and Bill Stevenson (Ann); four grandchildren, Brian (Ashley), Marcus, Sydney and Kyndall Stevenson; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ronnie Pinkerton.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Earl Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
