Waynesville, Joyce Suttles Hendrix, age 69, of Bridget Drive, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at her residence. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Blanche Dixon Suttles and was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Suttles. She was employed in the Garden Center of Wal-Mart for ten years and taught at the Head Start Homebound Program. She was also a volunteer at the Waynesville Senior Citizens Center. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and her pets. She was a member of Lake Junaluska First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Roger Hendrix; two sons, Jeff Clark and Mark Hendrix and his wife, Vickie, of Waynesville; two daughters, Mikell Clark-Webb and husband, Jacky, of Clyde and Krista Hendrix-Sorrells and her husband, Jimmy, of Balsam; a special adopted daughter, Christy Kirkpatrick, of Waynesville; one brother, Bob Suttles and his wife, Bobbie, of Waynesville; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Leyton Alan Mears, Reverend Jimmy Trantham, and Reverend Kelly Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at Keenerville Cemetery in the Spring Creek Community. Serving as pallbearers will be T.R. and Jeremy Clark, Chad Shelton, Jimmy Sorrells, Tony Lowe, and Thad Hannah. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at Roger's residence.
