Joyce Mease

Canton – Joyce Norris Mease, 85, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

Joyce was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Bill and Wales Clark Norris.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Felix Mease, who died in 2007 and a brother-in-law, Bobby Mease.  Joyce worked in the medical field for 23 years and was a member of Clyde Wesleyan Church where she served on the local board of administration.  She also served as the youth Sunday school teacher and on the Benevolence Committee.  Joyce was involved and served on the Board of the Red Cross of Haywood County and was secretary to WNC youth football and basketball for a number of years.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Carver and the late Robert Lee Carver of Maggie Valley; one son, Garry D. Mease and wife, Diane, of Waynesville; one brother, Hoyt Norris of Waynesville; one sister, Carolyn Kuykendall of Canton; a brother-in-law, James Mease; and three grandsons, Robert Justin Carver (Amy) of Clyde and William Chase Carver (Brianna) of Waynesville and Lucas William Mease of Florida; one great-granddaughter, Josie Carver of Clyde; and one great-grandson, Jake Carver of Clyde.

A private funeral service will be held with burial following at New Cruso Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be observed.
