Waynesville, JT Ball, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the VA Medical Center.
A native of Tennessee, he is the son of the late James Tillery and Iva Lee Green Ball. JT is preceded in death by his loving wife Flora Mae Ball who passed away in May 2020. He is also preceded in death by brothers Parlin Ball, Junior & Donald Ball, son in law Robert Brown, and grandson Ryan Brown.
JT was a member of the United States Army serving in Germany. He worked side by side with Flora raising a family, growing tobacco and tending to their farm.
He was a builder and built several bridges, homes and cabins throughout the county, including the building and contributing to Liberty Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member and a former Sunday School teacher.
JT is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Yvonne Brown, a son Ricky Ball (Lesa); four grandchildren, Heather Terwillegar (Matt), Jason Ball (Tasha), Shanna Ball, Angie Crisp; and four great grandchildren, Madelyn, Ian, Cason & Emma.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Clifford Ball and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
