Judith Sparks

Candler – Judith Annette Sparks, 78, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence.

Judith was a native of Haywood County but resided in Buncombe County for most of her life and was a daughter of the late Robert James and Elizabeth Moody James Ivey.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Carlyle Sparks, who died in 2016; two brothers, Charles and Bruce James and her step-father, Waverly Ivey.  Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was always present for her family whether it was cheerleading in the stands or caring for her grandchildren, family came first.  Judith was an avid Tarheel and Atlanta Braves fan, hardly ever missing a game.  She was a life-long member of Hominy Baptist Church, where she was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennie Brummitt and Jamie Massie (Tim), all of Candler; one son, Jim Sparks (Lucy) of Candler; two sisters-in-law, Sherry James and Nancy Taylor; eight grandchildren, Randy Brummitt, Daniel Brummitt (Shannon), Carlie Brummitt, Ann Marie Sparks, Dylon Davis, Jim Ben Sparks, Mara Beth Sparks and Emma Grace Sparks; one great-grandchild, Ryder Brummitt; several beloved nieces and nephews and several four-legged friends all whom she loved more than life itself.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Yelton officiating.  Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC  29615.
