Judith Ann Ivester VanLandingham, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at The Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Ada Chapman Ivester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Rhea and one brother, Ernest C. "Red" Ivester. Judith was a medical office assistant to Dr. Border and was instrumental in instituting the Folkmoot Festival. She enjoyed being a substitute teacher within the Haywood County Schools System. Judith was a great clogging dancer and will be remembered for being fiercely loyal and devoted to her family. She was also a member of North Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Grady L. VanLandingham; a daughter, Tamara Hannah and her husband, Ray, of Canton; one son, Michael Kevin VanLandingham of Canton; one sister, Ruby Pressley and her husband, Thomas Ray, of Canton; three grandchildren, Corey Birchfield (Michelle), of Tennessee, Christopher Michael and Keri Ann VanLandingham; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Madalyn Birchfield; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at North Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
