"Loving Wife and Mother" Candler- Judy Burgess Taylor, age 62, passed away on Wednesday December 3, 2014 at Asheville Specialty Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Betty Elizabeth Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sorrells. Judy was employed with Buncombe County Schools as a cafeteria worker as well as a school bus driver and retired with 18 years of service. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and had a love for gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Dwane Taylor, of Candler; a daughter, Erica Bailey and her husband, Jerry, of Clinton, Tennessee; two sons, Jeffrey Taylor and Joseph Hipps, both of Candler; three sisters, Brenda Jefferson of Rogersville, Tennessee, Sandy Inman and her husband, Ray, of Canton, and Rita Taylor and her husband, Michael, of Candler; two brothers, Phil Burgess and his wife, Karen, of Canton and Tommy Burgess and his wife, Gaylene, of Canton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Todd Cole and Reverend John Brendell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 875 Monte Vista Road, Candler, NC 28715 or to Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 525 Old 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
