Julia Saunders

November 30, 1983 — May 24, 2008

Waynesville, Julia "JuJu" Rebekah Saunders, age 24, of Hillside Terrace went home to be with the Lord and her Papaw Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, R.L. and Mildred Knight Saunders and her maternal grandfather, Lawson Reece. Julia graduated from Bethel Christian Academy in 2002 and was employed by Wal-Mart of Waynesville as a cashier and Customer Service Manager for the past six years. She was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church where she worked with the children. She loved her family, they were very special to her, especially her nieces and nephews. Julia touched so many lives through her Christian faith, her work, her church and her everyday life. She had a special touch for making friends, young and old, and was known for giving her special hugs and whistles. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Teresa Reece Saunders of Waynesville, two brothers, Chris Saunders and his wife, Chelsey, of Enka, NC and David Saunders and his wife, Veronica, of Ocala, FL; her maternal grandmother, Mary Woodruff of Waynesville; her goddaughter, Justice Gaddis; special friends, Del and Betty Stephens; four nieces, Anna, Amanda, Alexa and Ariel Saunders; two nephews, David Saunders, Jr. and Alex Messer; three aunts, two uncles, several cousins;four great aunts, and her special dog, JoJo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Ninevah Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Leslie and Reverend Tim Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville and at other times, at the residence of her aunt, Vickie Eckenrod, 147 Habitat Road, Canton. Serving as pallbearers will be her father, two brothers, Del Stephens, Keith Eckenrod and Melvin Pridmore. Memorials may be made to Ninevah Baptist Church New Family Life Center Fund, 931 Country Club Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Children's Miracle Network, c/o Wal-Mart, 157 Paragon Parkway, Clyde, NC 28721.
