Waynesville-Herbert Conard, age 75, of 2567 White Oak Road, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2005 at his residence. A life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late N. L. and Jimmie Evans Conard. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Hoglen Conard, who died in 2004; infant twin sisters, Nettie and Nellie Conard, Ruby Conard, and Lucille C. Bradley; and one brother, N. L. "Doodler" Conard. He was employed at the Dayco Corporation as a forklift driver in the mill room from which he retired in 1986. He was a life-long member of Liberty Baptist Church were he taught Sunday School, served as treasurer, and was a deacon for 48 years. He enjoyed farming and raised tobacco and cattle. He is survived by a sister, Frances C. Phillips, of Waynesville; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2005 at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Mullins, Neal McElroy, William Carver, Johnny Glance, Steve Carver, Larry Boone, and Randall Hoglen.
