Julius Mcclure

Canton - Julius "Jay" McClure, age 75, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the CarePartners Solace Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jake and Evelyn Wright McClure. Jay was employed by Champion Paper and worked in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1995. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and was a car enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Scott McClure; two daughters, Jana Fisher and her husband, John, of Waynesville and Christy Leigh of Buncombe County; one son, Kelley McClure and his wife, Rebecca, of Sylva; one sister, Lisa Godfrey of Canton; one brother, Kenny McClure of Candler; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Carlisle officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
