June Cook

Waynesville, June Lavone Cooke, age 53, who resided with her parents at 220 Ivy Hill Drive, went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord whom she dearly loved, on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She was born on August 17, 1954 and resided in Haywood County her entire life. June was born with Spina Bifida and was given a life expectancy of five years. Throughout her life, she never walked and was confined to a wheelchair; however, she did not allow her health or limitations to hinder her ability to have a positive attitude. She was educated in the Haywood County School System, and she loved to read, work puzzles, and watch the birds feed on her porch. At age seven she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and began a life journey of Christian dedication. She read her Bible daily and exhibited great Christian ideals throughout her life. "Tis more blessed to give than receive," was abundantly present when you visited June. She always gave you more of a blessing than you expected to receive. At June's birth, her parents accepted her health issues and limitations and dedicated their life to provide a loving home and support so their daughter could enjoy a normal life. June became an integral part of the household responsibilities that gave her a feeling of worth and independence. She is survived by her parents, Reverend Carl W. and Gladys Rhodarmer Cook, and a special friend, Mary Rhinehart. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Reynolds, Reverend Phillip Wyatt, Reverend Carl Presnell, and Reverend Milton Hollified officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Smith, Tracy Cobb, Josh Walls, and Dwight Daily. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clyde Free Will Baptist Church, 221 Jones Cove Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
