June Edwards

Waynesville-June Elizabeth "Nanny" Henry Edwards, age 83, died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. She was a native of Jackson County and a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late William Harrison and Nola Browning Henry and was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Edwards who died in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sandra W. Raines; two brothers, Bill and Berlin Henry; three sisters, Edith Warren, Bernita Gibson and Thomasine Henry. June owned and operated Tiny Tots Day Daycare on Shelton Street for 28 years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was very dedicated to her family. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Warren of Asheville and Brenda Allison of Anderson, SC; two sons, Ralph T. Edwards and his wife, Jean of Greensboro, NC and C. Ray Edwards and his wife, Beth of Covington, GA; two sisters, Shirley Knight and Pearl Oxford of Waynesville; a brother, Jack W. Henry also of Waynesville; six grandchildren, James R. Warren of Asheville, Rick Allison of Anderson, SC, Heather Blackmon and her husband, Bruce of Greensboro, NC, Carole Christian and her husband, John of Suwanee, GA, Kimberly Whitten and her husband, Larry also of Suwanee, GA and Anita Donley and her husband, Ron of Anderson, SC; one great- grandson, Christian Sagen Warren of Asheville and two great-granddaughters, Courtney Christian and Ashley Whitten, all of Suwanee, GA and a special friend of the family, Tommy Holcombe. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Combs and Reverend James Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddy Weatherby, Ron Donley, Rick Allison, Bill Edwards, Doug Edwards, John Christian, Eugene Christopher and Roger Knight.
