"Loving Uncle" Canton – Tilmon Moody Howard Jr., "Junior" age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Tilmon Moody Sr. and Lena Mae McGee Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Mary Kathryn Stamey Howard, who died in 2004; one brother, Mack Howard; and two sisters, Reva Waldroup and Juanita Burnette. Junior, along with his brother, Mack, were the owner and operators of Howard's Amoco on Pisgah Drive for over forty years and he was a member of Long's United Methodist Church. Along with his late wife, Kathryn, they established Hobo Junction Country Music Entertainment Club in Canton. Junior and Kathryn organized the Pisgah Cloggers where they performed regularly and traveled throughout the eastern United States. Junior created the band "Southern Express" in 1981 that played at most of the clogging teams performances. He is survived by a number of loving nieces, nephews, and two brothers-in-law, Gene Stamey and Lawrence Waldroup. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Rennie Salata and Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
