Kate Gentry

April 25, 1926 — December 13, 2010

Kate Nelson Gentry, age 84 passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Corbett and Gertrude Swanger Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Andy Gentry, who died in 2004 and several brothers and sisters. Kate was the last surviving sibling in her family and lived the longest. She is survived by one son, Keith Gentry and his wife, Deneene; three daughters, Carolyn Henson and her husband, Tony, Anita Gentry, and Robin Gentry; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Ernie and Freida Rogers and their family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ricky Gibson and the Reverend Anthony Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Chris Fox, Chad Henson, Ernie and Tim Rogers, Roger Edwards, Danny Miller, Michael Sluder, and Ryan Gentry.
