Waynesville, Kathleen Teague Burns, age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Laurels of Hendersonville.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eula (Grasty) Teague. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Doyle Teague.
Kathleen was a welcoming woman who enjoyed gardening and cooking for family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were traveling and time spent with family. Despite her own challenging upbringing, one of her life’s biggest accomplishments was nurturing her large family and they will surely miss her presence in their lives. In her later years, Kathleen found joy in watching the hummingbirds from the comfort of her home.
Kathleen is survived by her dear husband of 32 years, James Burns, who was a godsend that stood by her side through some of life’s toughest challenges. She is also survived by the pride of her life, her three daughters, Bridget Klebe (Zach) of Easley, SC, Cheryl Pilgrim of Pickens, SC, and Kathy Parton of Easley, SC; and her son, Charles Parton (Mary) of Brightwood, VA. Also left to treasure her memory are three stepsons, Scott Burns, Mark Burns (Cathy), and Victor Huffstetler (Jennifer); her three sisters, Frances Posey-Goldman (Wes McKenzie), Shirley Rich, and Reva Frank Teague; eight grandchildren, Brannon Klebe, Adriane Bevis, Kayla Scrivner, Breanne Kathleen Powell, Laken Pilgrim, Chevis Bolding, Reegan Duncan, and Eric Parton; and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
