Kathleen Hipps

Kathleen King Hipps, age 81, of Harrison Street passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at The Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hassie Letterman King. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd "Floss" King. She was formerly employed with Rite Aid Pharmacy in Canton. Kathleen enjoyed making quilts and loved the outdoors. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Philip J. Hipps, two daughters, Shelia McClure of Asheville and Lynn Howell and her husband, John, of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; two sons, Eddy McClure and his wife, Janice, of Hendersonville and Gary McClure and his wife, Candi, of Pikeville, North Carolina.; three grandchildren, David McClure, Shelby Oliver, and Phillip Howell; and a great-grandson, Phillip Carter Howell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
