Katie Medford

Katie Stephens Medford, age 93, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Catawba County and a daughter of the late Kelly and Nealie Lail Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ratcliffe Medford, who died in 1986; two sisters, Ruth Hardin and Allie Croft; and two brothers, Clyde and Edward Stephens. Katie was a retired nurse with Haywood County Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church of Clyde. She is survived by one son, Gerald C. Medford, and his wife, Carolyn, of Hamilton, OH; one daughter, Alice Neal Burch and her husband, Linden, of Clyde; two granddaughters, Candy Burch Wilson and her husband, Richard, and Alison Medford Smith and her husband, Todd; and two great-grandsons, Colin and Taylor Smith. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Clyde immediately following the service. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are not requested.
