Waynesville, Kelly S. Anderson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2010 at her home in Pensacola, Florida. She was born on October 29, 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she lived until moving to Waynesville, NC in 1990. Kelly was the daughter of Howard Balkenbusch, who preceded her in death, and Barbara Balkenbusch of Bryan, Ohio. Kelly was the very loving and proud mother of three children, Jared Anderson, Lindsey Presnell (Daniel) and Benjamin Anderson, all of Waynesville; one brother, Skip Balkenbusch of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and the father of her children, Paul Anderson of Mars Hill. Her children were the center of her heart. While her children were young, she was very active in their school activities at Jonathon Valley Elementary. She was always willing to help with fundraising efforts. She spent time collecting coats for the "Coats for Kids" program and was known as the "Cake Lady" at the fall festival cakewalk each year. Kelly also helped coach in the AYSO soccer league in Waynesville and enjoyed giving of her time and energy to help others. Kelly's kind heart and generous spirit were evident as she reached out to the less fortunate throughout the community in a variety of ways. She was always willing to lend a hand and help wherever needed. Before moving to Florida, she was a very active member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. She took great pleasure in being a part of the Praise Team and was especially proud of being able to help start the Celebrate Recovery program at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Longs Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Leyton Alan Mears officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to services. Kelly will be greatly missed by her children and all of the many family and friends who knew and loved her. May she rest peacefully in the arms of the Father until we are reunited with her in heaven. Memorials may be made to Long's Chapel United Methodist Church Praise Team or Celebrate Recovery Program, P.O. Box 459, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745. When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not here to see... If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today... While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you... And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me, too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand... That Jesus came and called my name and took me by the hand, And said my place was ready in heaven far above... And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart... For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart. - David Romano Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
