Ken Fisher

January 26, 1935 — April 18, 2016

Clyde, Richard Kenneth "Ken" Fisher, Sr., 81, passed away at Haywood Regional Medical Center on Monday, April 18, 2016 after a brief illness. A native of Live Oak, Florida, he was a former resident of Orange Park and Lakeland, Florida. He had resided in Haywood County for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late Harold Raymond and Mamie Coleman Fisher and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Mock and Barbara Ann Baggett. Ken was former owner of Kencorp Insurance Sales operating throughout Western North Carolina. He was also former owner of the Garden Patch Grocery Store in Orange Park, Florida and a former produce buyer for Publix Markets in Lakeland, Florida. Ken was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Clyde. Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Silver Fisher; two daughters, Brenda Yekey, of Augusta, South Carolina and Ashley White and her husband, Ben, of Pittsfield, Maine; a son, Dr. Richard K. Fisher, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Susan Fisher, of Cleveland, Tennessee; a sister, Mary Jane Farr, and her husband, Robert, of Macon, Georgia; and nine grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April, 20, 2016 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Interment will be at Socrum Baptist Church Cemetery near Lakeland, Florida. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Samaritan's Purse, P.O.
