Waynesville, Kenneth Gordon Alsdurf, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at The Homestead. Ken was born July 11, 1923 in Syracuse, Nebraska to the late Ernest H. and Clara Guermann Alsdurf. A veteran of WWII, he was a paratrooper, 11th Airborne Division, and served in the Pacific Theatre. Ken served in various capacities in community organizations including President, United Way; chapter chairman, American Red Cross; and Chairman, FEMA board. He was active in First United Methodist Church, Waynesville where he served on the Administrative Board, was delegate to the Annual Conference, chaired an ushering group, and was past president of United Methodist Men. Ken was also past President of Haywood County United Methodist Men. He retired in 1985 from Smoky Mountain Area Mental Health. Ken is survived by his wife, Edna who he married May 5, 1945. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
