Waynesville, Kenneth Howard Dye, age 73, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Memorial Campus-Mission Hospitals. Kenneth was a native of Loudon County, Tennessee, he had resided in Haywood County since 1972. He was the son of the late Granville and Myrtle Roberts Dye. Kenneth was a graduate of University of Tennessee, where he received his master's degree in Engineering. He retired from Champion International as an Engineer with 27 years' service. Kenneth was on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Baptist State Convention and President of the Lay Witness Foundation of North Carolina. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and did Missions work local and abroad. Kenneth loved his family and his Christian work and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia "Pat" Castleman Dye; two sons, Scott Dye and his wife, Kathy, of Reidsville, NC and Matthew Dye and his wife, Peggy, of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Amy Dye Cathey of Candler; a brother, Charles Dye of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Stan Welch officiating. Private burial will be held. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Kenneth Dye, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
