Kent Roberts

Kent Stephen Roberts, age 52, passed away on December 2, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Blount County, TN, and was the son of Charles and Mary Gene Roberts. He served the Lord as a member of Providence Church in Clyde. Kent enjoyed music, playing guitar at church and with his friends. He was a Master Model Railroader, an Eagle Scout, an avid golfer, and a Tennessee sports fan. Kent had worked at Western North Carolina Community Credit Union since 1997. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1975, Carson Newman College with a BA, and Southern Wesleyan University with an MBA. Kent was a wonderful husband, a dedicated dad, and a great son. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Courtney Roberts; two sons, Will and Wesley Roberts of the home; and a sister, Dawn Bailes and her husband, Robby of Maryville, TN. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Providence Church with Pastor Josh Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Mattox Cemetery in Wears Valley, TN with a memorial service to follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Maryville, TN at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Providence Church or to Haywood County Homeless Shelter through Providence Church, 1400 Old Clyde Road, Clyde, NC 28721, or to the Boy Scouts of America - Daniel Boone Council, 333 West Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
