Ki Davis

Ki Foy Davis, age 83, of 1772 Dutch Cove Road, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hezekiah and Leona Shope Davis. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Terry Lee Davis and Randy Lamar Davis; a brother, Brantley Davis; and an infant sister, Evelyn Davis. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. He retired from Champion International as a foreman in paper quality control with 42 years of service. He was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church and the American Legion. His greatest loves were his Lord, his family, and music. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Sue Nichols Davis; two daughters, Alana Sue Hamlett and her husband, David, of Weaverville and Kila Annette Thompson and her husband, Steve, of Canton; a sister, Demia Israel of Canton; ten grandchildren, Lee Davis and Marea Davis French, which he and his wife raised, Kile Davis, Amy Peterson, Heath Hamlett, Lamara Davis, Rachel Davis, Allen Davis, Solomon Ki Davis, and Austin Thompson; five great-grandchildren Alex and Dawson Davis, Andrew Peterson, Kathryn Elizabeth French, and Callie Davis; and three step great-grandchildren, Zachary, Merideth, and Rachel Andrews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Love officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness, compassion, and care of Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice.
