Waynesville, Knox Wray Bess Cobb, a resident of Givens Estates, passed away on September 28, 2013 at Givens Health Center. She was born on September 11, 1922 to the late Dorus Hilary Bess and Essie Lola Childers Bess in Vale, North Carolina. Mrs. Cobb was predeceased by her beloved and loving husband, William "Bill" Maddox Cobb, Sr., seven sisters, and twin brothers. Prior to moving to Givens Estates in 2001, Mrs. Cobb resided in Waynesville for 56 years where she owned and operated Cobb's Florist and Gift Shop. While in Waynesville, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by four children, Sarah C. Bacon of Lilburn, Georgia, Bill Cobb, Jr. and wife, Dianne, of Winston Salem, Hilary Cobb and wife, Elaine, of Waynesville, and Knox C. Hardin and husband, Charlie, of Canton; eight grandchildren, Wes Bacon, Will Bacon, Laura C. Brim, Mason Cobb, Laurel Cobb, Michael Cobb, Kara Hardin and Brittainy H. Crawford; two great grandsons Paulk Bacon and Gavin Cobb; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 by the Reverend Paul Brown at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesville. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Asbury Commons, Givens Estates, Asheville, with the Reverend Ed Hillman officiating. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is assisting the family.
