L.A. Robinson

L.A. "Curly" Robinson, age 88, of 95 Robins Nest Drive, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Hermie Dempsey Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Dale and Dicky Hale and two sisters, Francis Morris and Irene Langille. Curly was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many and was an active member of Canton Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and served with the 1st Armored Division. He worked for Champion International for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frankie Stamey Robinson; three sons, Larry Robinson and his wife, Carolyn, Gary Robinson and his wife, Dora, Alan Robinson and his wife, Cathy, all of Canton; one sister, Margaret Singleton and her husband, Hershel; one brother, Charles Robinson; six grandchildren, Jeremy Robinson and his wife, Amanda, Amy Robinson, Rocky and Brittany Banks, Ashley Smathers, and Brenda Rabb and her husband, Jason; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan Robinson, Emily Meyer, Courtney and Hunter Stacy, Christopher and Makayla Rabb. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Milton Hollifield and Reverend Jeremy Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
