Laalta Parker

September 4, 1926 — July 21, 2011

LaAlta Rhinehart Parker, age 84, formerly of Hillcrest Drive died on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Brian Center in Weaverville. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John and Fanella Rogers Rhinehart. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gus "Bill" Parker who died in 1999; and a brother, Tom Rhinehart. She retired from American Enka and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Candler. She is survived by a son, Bill Ronald Parker and his wife, Angelica, of Weaverville; a daughter, Barbara Ann Smith and her husband, Larry, of Cary; five grandchildren, Justin, Austin, and Madison Parker and Sara and Jason Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Vanessa Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Bissett and Reverend Betty Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
