Landon Burris

Waynesville, Landon George Burris, age 84, of Carolina Avenue, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Autumn Care. A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late George Washington Burris and Myrtle Crisp Burris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Loye Kennedy, Ina Sawyer, and Ella Mashburn and six brothers, Ferrell, Floyd, Ray, Harley, Willie, and McKinley Burris. He was employed at Barber's Orchard for 45 years and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Landon was a Godly man who took great delight in his grandchildren and spending time with his family. Landon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bonnie Creasman Burris; two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Gary Roberts of Morganton and Beth and Tim Mills of Powdersville, South Carolina; three granddaughters, Misty Roberts, Laura Ballard, and Maggie Mills and two grandsons, Isaac and Samuel Mills; and a sister, Dare Rogers and her husband, Doyce, of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
