Larry Caldwell

November 30, 1914 — June 15, 2006

Waynesville-Larry David Caldwell, age 91, of the Ironduff Community, died on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Cleveland Caldwell and Avie McElroy Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Welch Caldwell, who died in 2001; four sisters, Blye Caldwell, Fanny Rathbone, Susie Gotti, and Ruth Giles; and three brothers, Buryl, Thad, and J.D. Caldwell. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by a brother, Harrison Caldwell, of Lake Junaluska and one sister, Eula Underwood of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Davenport and Reverend Tim McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence, 537 Ironduff Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Claude, Kevin, and Zachary Caldwell, Johnny Underwood, Glenn Giles, Jr., Dewayne Edwards, and Doug Howell.
