"Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather"

Waynesville, Larry David Young, 72, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of Paul Young and the late Lorise Long. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda McGoldrick and two brothers, Bobby Young and Homer Lanning. Larry retired after 38 years from RCF Construction where he worked as an excavator. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed riding with his dog, Dumplin, cutting wood, hunting and fishing.

Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Gibson Young; a daughter, Sheila Holden (Wade) of Clyde; a son, Travis Young (Michelle) of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Brooke Holden and Samantha, Ashleigh Young and Dumplin; three sisters, Pauline Smathers (Bob), Rachel Oliver (Coleman) of Boone and Phyllis Kisser of Maryland.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Stacy Woods officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to service at funeral home.
