Larue Burgess

Waynesville- LaRue Sherer Burgess, age 92, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. LaRue is the daughter of the late Luther Berry and Beatrice Pratt Sherer. In 2006, she and her family moved to Lexington, SC and in 2012 then moved to their vacation home at Lake Junaluska, NC, where she lived until death. She was always ready to help those in need and was a shining example of God's love and grace. LaRue gave her life to Christ as a young woman and her motto was that God loves you. She was a wonderful and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Teacher who will be missed greatly by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Raymond Hunter Burgess; her sister, Shirley Price of Liberty, SC; her children, Edward E. Burgess, Jr. and his wife Judy of Lexington, SC, Raynene Sherer Burgess of Lake Junaluska; a grandson, Edward E. Burgess , III and his wife Janet of Lexington, SC and their children Arianna and Justin; a granddaughter; Jennifer Burgess Pile and her husband Richard of Seminole, FL and their children Zachary and Nathan; a daughter/niece, Martha Davis Towne and her husband Stan of N. Ft. Myers, FL; and a granddaughter/great-niece, Lisa Davis; plus many other loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sharon ARP Church in Sharon, SC. A memorial service will be held at Maggie United Methodist Church at a later date. Please contact the church for further information. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and family make a donation to the local Alzheimer's Association.
