Laura Sheppard

Laura Carpenter Sheppard, age 93, of Alex Drive, died Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Bradley Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Sheppard, who died March 4, 1961; three sisters, Georgia, Para Lee and Annie Lee; and two brothers, Don and Lloyd. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. She retired from American Enka. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Garner and her husband, Horace, of Canton; four sons, Bobby Sheppard and his wife, Shirley, of Canton, Bill Sheppard and his wife, Judy, of Hendersonville, Rex Sheppard and his wife, Carolyn, of Canton and Harold Sheppard and his wife, Brenda, of Clyde; a sister, Inez Adams, of Clarksville, GA; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kevin Garner, Reverend Jack Scott and Reverend Martin Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
