Lavonda Christopher

Lavonda Darlene Shepard Christopher, age 49, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of Franklin Delano Shepard of Candler and the late Pearl Lillian Warren. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Caleb Lee Christopher. She was the Customer Service Manager at IWANNA and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Lavonda was a creative spirit and was talented in painting, woodworking, cooking, and writing. She was an avid reader who loved cookbooks and murder mysteries. Lavonda was fascinated by people of different cultures and lifestyles. She never judged anyone and, while conservative in her own life, accepted people for who they were. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, A. Lee Christopher; a son, Jonathan Lee Christopher of Canton; a sister, Karen Lachelle Shepard of Candler; and her best buddy, Boomer Christopher. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Chaplain David Ingram, Reverend Austin Watts, and Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
