Waynesville, NC, LaVonne Marie Jensen Danitschek, age 72, of Woodfield Drive, passed away on September 6, 2011 at MedWest-Harris Regional Medical Center. A native of Valley City, North Dakota, she grew up in Mahnomen, Minnesota and had resided in Haywood County since 1992. She was the daughter of the late Hjalmer and Ruth Cook Jensen. She was a registered nurse, an alto in the choir at St. John Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho, president of the LCW at St. John Lutheran Church in Beaufort, South Carolina, a 15-year volunteer with the American Red Cross, president of the Red Cross Auxiliary at Beaufort Naval Hospital, a volunteer at Haywood Christian Ministries, a life-long Lutheran, and a 19-year member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Clyde, North Carolina. LaVonne was a 30-year Navy wife who was a loving, loyal, and caring mother as well as partner and best friend for 46 years to her husband, Carl. She is survived by her husband, Carl Danitschek; a son, Jim Danitschek, of Waynesville; a daughter, Sandra Conley and her husband, Jason, of Alexandria, Virginia; and one sister, Gerry Langemo and her husband, Jim, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Reverend Christopher Crume officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Christian Ministries, 150 Branner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
