Lawrence Thomas Davis

Lawrence T. Davis, age 97, entered into his heavenly home on February 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1928, in Haywood County to the late Vinson and Ella Mae Mehaffey Davis.

Lawrence was a graduate of Waynesville Township, and Haywood College. He retired from Dayco Corporation after 43 years of service, as a welder. Lawrence served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Lawrence was a member of Ratcliff Cove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. His faith was his lifelong cornerstone. 

His greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, Papaw, neighbor and friend, He was a devoted Nascar fan, enjoying going to the races with his son, nephew Sam Underwood and dear friend Roger Lowe.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Helen; two brothers, Roy and Ernest and a sister, Lucille Blaylock.

Lawrence is survived by his son, Larry Davis; daughter Terri Davis; grandson, Powell Davis; granddaughter, Ivie Greene and great grandson, Rylee Greene.

The family would like to thank Hazelwood Family Medicine, Care Angels and Four Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Ratcliff Cove Cemetery.

The care of Mr. Davis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
