Lawrence Harvey

Waynesville, Lawrence Donald �Don" Harvey, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after a long and courageous battle. He is now free from pain and is at peace with our Heavenly Father. A native of Okeechobee, Florida, he is the son of the late Larue and Kate Harvey. Don spent most of his life in the Sanford, Florida area. He worked 40 years with Florida Power and Light, where he was a supervisor at the Sanford Service Center. He was so highly respected by all. Don considered his crews and fellow employees as family and loved them all. He loved fishing, working in his yard, cooking and was a master at grilling. He loved living in Waynesville, NC where he said that every day was a day in paradise. Don is survived by his wife of 28 years, Maryan Harvey; two daughters, Amy Riley and Christy Keikes; a son, Steven Harvey; two stepsons, Andrew and Scott McClung; two sisters, Joy Harvey and Judy Hardy; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held for the family at Oaklawn Memorial Park at a later date.
