Lawrence Jenkins

Waynesville, Lawrence Daniel Jenkins, age 79, of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Marion and Ruth Brown Jenkins and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Ralph Jenkins and a sister, Mary Lee Wells. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was later employed by the Dayco Corporation, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. Lawrence was a member of the Mountain Antique Auto Club and also Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Parham Jenkins; one daughter, Pam Sutton and her husband, Harold; one son, Keith Jenkins and his wife, Dana, of Sevierville, Tennessee; a brother, Henry Jenkins and his wife, Barbara, of Clyde; and five grandchildren, Javan Sutton of Raleigh, Zach Sutton of Charlotte, and Lauren, Rachel, and Claire Jenkins of Sevierville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allens Creek Baptist Church, 549 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
