Lawrence Massie

Canton – William Lawrence Massie, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Roy and Vera Revis Massie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Arlene Norris Massie and a nephew, Ricky Gilbert Massie. Lawrence was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from American Enka Corporation with 32 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his Lord. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Buckner Massie; a step-daughter, Angela Hensley; two step-grandchildren, Sophia Miller and David Trull; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Surrett (Bob), of Canton; two brothers, Gilbert Massie (Linda), of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Wayne Massie (Barbara), of Canton; three nieces; and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 21, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Littrell officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery.
