Leila Goodson

Candler-Leila Moore Goodson-81 of Wiggins Road, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Maggie's Place.

She was a native of Haywood County and had lived in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late James H. and Martha Elizabeth Davis Moore and the wife of the late Eldridge Goodson who died in 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Goodson who died in 1978 and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She was a member of Hominy Baptist Church and was an avid Christian, mother, grandmother, homemaker, quilter and crafter who was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived be one daughter, Wanda Mintz and her husband Harold of Candler, one son, Edwin E. Goodson and his wife Beverly of Candler, one sister, Ella M. Leopard of Waynesville, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Joe Yelton and Reverend Jackie Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hominy Baptist Church, Building Fund, 135 Candler School Road, Candler, NC 28715.
