Len Mcclure

Len Willis McClure, age 73, beloved husband, dad, papaw, brother, and uncle went to sleep in the Lord on June 15, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Grady and Pearl Bryson McClure; a sister, Wilma Haney; two brothers, Wilson McClure and Bobby McClure; and two of man's best friends, Red and Shasta, who walked many a mile with him. He spent his last days in his home with the competent care of not only his family members but also the wonderful and compassionate sitters his home was blessed with as well as the Hospice staff. He was also blessed with his nephews and nieces who visited and wrote often, even e-mail correspondence from Iceland regularly as they loved their uncle. He was a fabulous gardener sharing his bounty with others and through his many walks found friends among the neighborhood and community. Surviving are his wife of almost 57 years, Jackie Taylor McClure; four children, Rick McClure of Canton, Rebecca Williams of Sandpointe, ID, Rita Clayton of Fines Creek, and Robin Shepard of Mill Spring, NC; 11 grandchildren, Jenny and Tabitha Maxwell, James Clayton, Ryan McClure, Jessica Orr, R. J. and Rory McClure, Tré, Jared, Wesley, and Bryson Shepard; and a brother, Buck McClure of Canton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will be at 5 Woodruff Street, Canton.
